Jiřina Bohdal's grandchildren grew up to be elegant. Marek was once ashamed of his famous grandmother, but today he and his brother owe her their lives

Actress Jiřina Bohdalová celebrated her respectable 94th birthday this year. Although age is already making itself known, she is kept alive by work — and above all by family. Her greatest support are her grandsons Marek and Vojtěch, who in the past played a vital role even when the actress was fighting for her life.

In the world of Czech cinematography, Jiřina Bohdalová is one of the living legends. The energy with which she performs on stage and in front of the camera is admirable at her age. In addition to her professional life, however, she also enjoys her family life — and her relationship with her daughter Simona Stašová and her grandchildren are apparently extremely strong.

Family as a foundation – despite complicated relationships with men

Neither Bohdalová nor her daughter were particularly lucky in love.
The famous actress married twice, but neither of them lasted. Simona Stašová, on the other hand, experienced relationships with Pavl Trávníček, Eusebius Ciccotti and Pavl Skřípal, but love did not work out for her in the long term.

Nevertheless, together the two women form an incredibly strong team — and Stašová has the same bond with her sons.

Marek: from shyness to pride

Older son Marek, whom Stašová has with Eusebio Ciccotti, admitted that it was not easy growing up in a famous family.

"If he was a famous dad, it's different than having a famous mother and grandmother," he admitted some time ago.
"I was ashamed of it at school."

However, as he got older, his relationship with his famous relatives changed and today he also accompanies his grandmother to social events. Although he played a few minor roles himself, he found his talent elsewhere — he studied directing and screenwriting and now works writing for television. He would also like to try directing one day.

Vojtěch: the youngest joy of the family

The younger grandson Vojtěch, whom Stašová gave birth to with her partner Pavel Skřípal, appears in public less often. Now, however, great joy awaits the family — Vojtěch will be a father.
"I'm already falling into prams, I'm really looking forward to it," confided Stašová with a smile.

When life was at stake. The role of the grandsons was crucial

Few people know that both grandsons played an absolutely key role some time ago.
Bohdalová suffered a pulmonary embolism, which landed her in the intensive care unit. Her condition was critical.

Stašová admitted at the time that her sons were indispensable — especially Marek.

“Mom is with us today mainly thanks to Marek,” she said on the Showtime show.

He even stayed with her grandmother in the ICU overnight and put oxygen back into her mouth when she lost oxygen during her sleep. According to their mother, both brothers behaved "incredibly bravely and practically".

A strong family bond that was not eroded by anything

The family relationships of Bohdalová, Stašová and the two grandsons are based on mutual loyalty, closeness and support.
Whatever awaits them — joy, work or health problems — they stick together.

This year, one of the happiest Christmases awaits them. Jiřina Bohdalová will have a great-grandchild, and this is a joy that the actress will not miss.
