The actor Tomáš Jeřábek certainly did not live the classic path to family life. His youth was turbulent, unrestrained and full of resistance to social rules. The change was brought about only by his love for the actress and performer Halka Třešňáková, with whom he is currently raising his son Theo. And even though the beginnings were not easy, today they form a strong and well-coordinated team.
He and Halka met for the first time in 2002 during a theater performance. Even then, a spark jumped between them. Their relationship gradually grew stronger until they got married in 2015 - first in costume while filming Mars in the US, and later "for real". Jěrábek then began to write a new chapter in his life, which was far from his previous anarchist style.
"I wasn't a typical straight-faced punk, but I had a strong defiance in me. I hated authority, I was bored by conventions. I only did what I wanted, and it took a toll on those around me," the actor admitted in one interview. But he and Halka understood each other in this regard. She also went through a similar phase – during her stay in Germany she sympathized with anarchy and the alternative scene.
However, the path to the family was not without obstacles. Both of them also went through tougher times when they struggled with financial insecurity. "There was a period when we really lived from hand to mouth. Once they even turned off our electricity because of unpaid bills," Jeřábek recalled. The breakthrough in his career was the role of a banker in advertising, which opened the door to greater stability.
He went through a fundamental transformation after the birth of his son. Jérábek openly admits that he did not know how to deal with fatherhood at first. "I was stressed and often ran away from my duties. It was not easy for Halka," he says. It took him a while to find his way to the child, but today he feels like a proud father. Even his wife confirms that he has become a great dad.
Halka already had experience with motherhood in the past - she gave birth to her first son at the age of 17. The second son was born when she was 46 years old, Jeřábek was 44 at the time. They both talk about the "syndrome of older parents", when they spoil the child rather than raise it.
Whatever ups and downs they've been through, they seem like a pair that complement each other. Even when crises arose, they were always able to resolve them in private. Today, they look like a couple who have finally settled down - personally and professionally.
