Actor Goran Maiello, a charismatic handsome man with a temperament of Italian ancestry, left the role of Vojta Rokl in the series ZOO Nové záčátky with great emotions. And while the fans are still absorbing his departure, he himself enjoyed a well-deserved reboot in his native environment of sun, sea and delicious food.
Emotional farewell behind the scenes
When Goran filmed his last scene, the atmosphere between the scenes was not exactly light. Saying goodbye to his colleagues sounded like the closing of a life chapter that grew close to his heart. "I received beautiful gifts, I said goodbye to colleagues, friends and to a period that meant a lot," he admitted.
Among all the relationships that arose on the set, one bond burned the deepest mark - friendship with Štěpán Benoni. The serial brothers simply sat down even away from the cameras, and Goran even promised him that he would watch everything he filmed. A symbolic gesture that shows that even after the end of the series, some bonds will not be broken.
And to make matters worse, there was an announcement that also hurt the viewers: ZOO New Beginnings is ending. Prima's huge project, which cost millions, did not reach the expected viewing figures. Some actors turned down other roles because of filming - and now they are out of a job.
Italian Amalfi as medicine for the soul
After intense months, the decision was made not to wait for anything and disappear to sunny Italy. "We're going to Amalfi for a while, to have a break, sun and good food," said Goran, for whom Italy has a deeper meaning than just tourist romance.
In addition to work milestones, a personal chapter in his life also closed. In the spring, he finally confirmed his breakup with actress Simone Lewandowska, with whom he had been a couple for several years. They have known each other since their studies, but this year they said their last goodbye.
And what is he planning next? "I'm not solving anything at the moment. I'm letting things flow," he declared with typical southern calm.
Christmas half Czech, half Italian
His dual origins are also evident during the holidays. At the Maiells, both carp and potato salad, as well as seafood, appear on the Christmas Eve table - an honest tradition from Italy. They give gifts according to Czech custom on December 24, but they also add a free plate for a traveler, as local custom dictates.
Goran thus lives between two worlds, which together create an interesting mix just like him – Czech directness mixes with southern passion.
The journey from the first cameras to the ZOO
Although fans associate Maiello primarily with the role of a hot-blooded bartender Rokla, the beginnings in front of the camera were not exactly a walk in the park for him. "Cameras are a complicated world. They are not in the theater. And repeating the same scenes confused me for a long time," he admitted.
However, he quickly got into the television environment and eventually fell in love with filming. "It's a lot of new experiences," he says.
And for those who miss his energy at the Zoo - don't despair.
You can see Goran:
at the Goose on a String Theater in the production of Darwin & Co.,
in the spring at the National Theatre in the play Twelfth Night.
It seems that the new the stage is slowly opening up for him.
