Celebrity Race Across The World 2024 Winners Crowned

Tonight, the exciting Celebrity Race Across The World 2024 came to a close as BBC Radio 2 presenter Scott Mills and his husband (then fiance) Sam became the first to reach the final checkpoint and were crowned the winning team.

In a thrilling final with only two teams in with a chance of first place, Scott Mills and Sam Vaughan became the first to climb Mount Osorno in Frutillar, Chile. Actor Kola Bokinni and his cousin Mary Ellen Moriarty finished in second place at 2 hours and 20 minutes, while presenter Jeff Brazier and his son Freddy Brazier and presenter Kelly Brook and her husband Jeremy Parisi arrived the following day, finishing in third and fourth place.

After opening the inn book and realizing that they had arrived at Frutillar first, they jumped for joy and shouted, "Oh my god, we did it!".

Scott said of the win: "I'm speechless. When you open that book and there's no other names - it's an indescribable feeling."

Sam added with a smile, "I'm glad we flipped a coin!".

Key Discover

  • Scott Mills and Sam Vaughan win Celebrity Race Across The World 2024.
  • Kola Bokinni and Mary Ellen Moriarty finished second.
  • Jeff and Freddy Brazier finished third, Kelly and Jeremy Parisi fourth.

The Road To Victory

Scott and Sam started the final stage in third place, but with just 39 minutes between all the teams, it was a competition for everyone. After leaving the fifth checkpoint in Tilcara, the teams had 2,750 km across the Andes to reach the finish line in Frutillar, Chile. Scott and Sam decided to flip a coin to determine which route they would take - heads, crossing the border into Chile early, or tails, continuing down through Argentina. They opted for tails and set off through Argentina to San Salvador and on to Mendoza.

Their journey got off to an uncertain start when queues were huge and bus tickets were expensive due to the Easter holidays. After discovering that the 1:15pm bus was sold out, they faced a potential nine-hour wait at the bus station. Determined to find a way to stay in the race, Sam checked again and found more free tickets, meaning they could leave on the bus with the other teams.

Final Thoughts

The winners, Scott and Sam, reflected on their journey and how the competition made them stronger as a team. Scott stated, "It's been exciting, it's been tough, it's been frustrating, but we've been there for each other through the good and the bad, the ups and the downs. It just goes to show that we're a great team - a winning team."

While Kola and Mary Ellen were thrilled with their second place finish, Jeff and Freddy were content to finish the race as father and son. Kelly and Jeremy, who finished fourth, expressed their delight at finishing, with Kelly commenting: "To me, finishing means everything. Jeremy wanted to win, I just wanted to finish."

This competition showed how important it is not only to win, but also to share unforgettable experiences and strengthen relationships with loved ones.
