Miroslav Donutil's son is all after his father. Martin collects series roles and he and his wife experienced a huge tragedy

The actor Miroslav Donutil has been among the most prominent personalities of the Czech scene for decades. In addition to a successful career, he can also boast of a stable family life - he and his wife Zuzana have been together for almost fifty years and they have raised two sons together. The younger of them, Martin, decided to follow in the footsteps of his famous father and today he is among the sought-after actors. But his path was not always easy.

Love like a movie and a flash wedding

Miroslav Donutil wooed his future wife while she was dating someone else. As soon as they met, it was clear - Zuzana said goodbye to her partner at the time, and within half a year they were standing at the altar with Donutil. Their son Tomáš was soon born, and Martin was born two years after the revolution.

In addition, Zuzana Donutilová was never just "the wife of a famous man". She fulfilled her dream and has been running her own cafe in the center of Prague for more than two decades, which the actor respectfully comments as an admirable feat without any entrepreneurial preparation.

Martin and acting: dad gave advice but didn't open the door

Martin Donutil decided on acting early. He entered the conservatory immediately after elementary school, because he knew that classical studies were not for him. Although his father never talked him into an artistic career, he set clear conditions: he must fight for everything himself.

"He told me that he wouldn't help me or look for roles. Either I succeed on my own or I shouldn't do it," Martin described.

And indeed – he developed himself with his own diligence. He starred with Miroslav Donutil in the show 3 plus 1 and later in the series Mysterious cases, where his later wife Sára also appeared.

Love from the theater and father's warning

He met Sara while rehearsing the play Death of a Salesman and soon a spark flew. Although he fell in love almost immediately, his father had reservations. Based on his experience, he warned Martin that the relationship between two actors can be full of tension, jealousy and a demanding work schedule. But Martin was not discouraged.

The hardest moments of their lives

The year 2022 was supposed to be the happiest for the young couple - they were expecting their son Matyáš. But a few weeks before the birth, they learned the terrible news: the baby will be born dead.

A turning point that most people cannot imagine.

"Gradually we understood that this pain was supposed to teach us something. And really everything changed," Sára confided later.

Fortunately, their life brightened up again - at Christmas last year, they welcomed a healthy boy, Eliáš, into the world. And so Miroslav Donutil became a proud grandfather.

Martin's success is growing

The actor shines today in the theater and on television. The audience liked him thanks to his natural expression and charisma, which he clearly inherited from his father. Nevertheless, he remains firmly on the ground and puts his family first.
