Bolek Polívka's son Jan is all daddy. He faced bullying in his childhood, today he shines on the TV screen

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. The viewers of the Brothers and Sisters series were surprised when Jan Polívka, the legendary actor Bolko Polívka, appeared alongside actress Bára Černá. Although he was far from acting in the beginning, the artistic genes finally prevailed.

Childhood full of bullying

Having a famous father is not always a win. Jan Polívka admitted that he experienced severe bullying as a child. "I was small and fat. Children are cruel, they abused me mentally and physically," he confided in the podcast.

His classmates nicknamed him "Bohusha" after the unforgettable role of the father in the film Heritage or Kurvahošigutntag. It is therefore not surprising that the world of show business did not attract him at first.

Basketball changed his life

The turning point came when Jan fell in love with basketball. He shed the extra pounds and his self-confidence went up quickly. He even won the republic championship with the Brno Tiger team. "I dreamed of the NBA, but I would be happy with the Czech extra league," he said at the time.

Dad Bolek supported him: "Mainly because he likes sports."

In the end, however, Jan succumbed to acting and appeared in the series Brothers and Sisters. Critics and viewers noticed how much their father. "He's cheeky, a bit of a provocateur, but he has charm. And when he takes Bára on a motorbike, no one can resist him," the creators described his role.

Jan himself says: "I've matured into acting. It's my path and my love. Some people will always claim that I have patronage, but I only want to do it as long as I feel it makes sense."

Strong family and support Bolka

Jan is one of the three children that Bolek Polívka has with his longtime partner and wife Marcela Černá. It was she who, after more than twenty years of cohabitation, got married in 2020, which Bolek promised her in her fifties.

The actor has a total of six children and always said that "every child has its own mother". In addition to Jan, he has, for example, a daughter Kamila, Anna or a son Vladimír. He will soon make sure that the famous actor becomes a grandfather - he is expecting his first child.
