Actor Jan Dolanský and Lenka Vlasáková belong to the most stable couples in the Czech acting environment. But their relationship was not a fairy tale from the beginning — and certainly not one that those around would believe would last for a long time. Nevertheless, they raised four children together and after almost twenty years of living together, they decided to get married.
First meeting? It definitely wasn't love at first
sightThey met at an audition for the film Granting Mercy is Rejected.
At that time, Lenka already had a daughter from a previous relationship, Jan was a young actor at the beginning of his career. Each of them created a slightly different image of the other than today.
Lenka said of Dolanský at the time that he seemed complacent.
Jan, on the other hand, admitted that he was immediately fascinated by her energy and expression.
While working together, they gradually found their way to each other — at first secretly, to protect the first period of their relationship from the world.
A passionate relationship that is not always easy
Their coexistence was and is full of emotions.
Lenka does not deny it:
"Our relationship isn't always rosy, it's alive. Sometimes wild. But that's why there's always room for passion."
Jan speaks of his wife with admiration and professional respect:
"I think Lenka is one of the best actresses in our country. It's a pleasure to play with her. She's fair, honest, and you can tell that on stage."
Recipe for peace? "When it's stuffy, I'll go to the cottage"
When tension begins to build up at home, Dolanský has a proven method:
"When it starts to spark too much, I'll take my things and go to the cottage for a few days. We'll both clear our heads there. And then it's good again."
A short distance works much better for them than long arguments.
A big family as an anchor
They have three children together — Amélia, Max and Johan.
The eldest Sofie is Lenka's daughter from her marriage to playwright Egon Tobiáš.
The family is the absolute foundation for both of them.
And as they say, it taught them to work together, not just to love.
Wedding after 19 years: "It's finally time"
When the pandemic came and theaters closed, they suddenly had time. And most importantly: peace.
"We told our family on Monday that we were getting married. The wedding was on Friday," laughs Vlasáková.
It was a small, domestic, purely family event.
The daughter baked the cake. The other mother did her make-up. Her sons accompanied her.
"That's when we first realized how much it meant to our children. The ceremony was actually for them."
Work? Everyone else, but they support each other
Dolansky is known to viewers as Petr Dvořák from the series Ulice.
Lenka Vlasáková appears in the film Invincible, which will be released at the end of this year.
They like to play together, but they don't need to present themselves as a "showbiz couple".
Summary
Love without frills, but with a huge weight of relationship, family and sincerity.
And maybe that's why they work — no theater for the public, just real life.
