Patrik Hezucký found a haven in his wife Nikole. Together they overcame crises and heavy losses

Moderator Patrik Hezucký has been associated with the Morning Show on Europe 2 for years, but his real background is not a microphone or a radio. He is his family - and especially his wife Nikola, who is 19 years younger. Together, they experienced not only happy moments, but also very challenging life stages that would separate many couples. But the exact opposite happened with them - they cemented them together.

The Long Road to Parenthood

In 2019, their son Oliver was born, Patrik was then almost 50 years old. However, the path to the baby was not easy at all. Nikola openly described on social networks that she had previously had four miscarriages. "I got up four times before my prayed-for baby came. And then another fall, another loss. It reminds you how fragile hope is," she confided honestly.

The pain of repeated losses changed her outlook on life. "Today I am no longer sad. I am grateful. Every day that I hold my son in my arms is a miracle for me," adds Nikola. It was the desire for a child that connected them for years and helped keep them together even in difficult times.

Love from a bar and marriage after years

Their first meeting wasn't cinematic at all - they met at an event moderated by Leoš Mareš, Patrik's longtime colleague. They had already written to each other on Facebook, where Nikola appreciated Patrik's work. Word gave word and a relationship was gradually born from one meeting.

After eight years of living together, they got married in 2019. But the relationship wasn't always sunny. "We had to learn to communicate with each other, be patient and let a lot of things slide. There is no perfect relationship, but if both work on it, it has a chance to last," Nikola said.

Cottage instead of villa

Although one might imagine that the famous presenter will live in a villa with a swimming pool and expensive cars in the garage, the reality is different. Patrik and Nikola found happiness in a wooden cottage in Čerčany, where they are surrounded by nature and peace. "I was a typical middle-class man. But this place changed us. The peace and quiet of the village - that's priceless," describes Patrik.

Nikola comes from Vrbno pod Pradědem and has three sisters. She lived in different parts of the country – Ostrava, Kolín, Boskovice or Prague – before settling down with Patrik. She is known for the fact that she tolerates order and that she is not really pleased with a potato dumpling.

Two partners – at home and at work

Besides Nikola, Patrik has another life partner - Leoš Mareš. They have been broadcasting together for over 25 years, and even though they are completely different in character, their working tandem works. "It wasn't love at first sight. Leoš was pretty cocky in the beginning. But today we're like an old married couple," jokes Patrik.

Over the years, they have experienced various work phases and crises together. "The important thing is that we don't spend a lot of time together outside of broadcasting. That's what helped us last," he added.

And it is after demanding days or tense periods that Patrik returns home - to Nikola, where he finds peace. As he himself says: "It's my rock. My port."
