The public knows him as a funny and prompt presenter who carefully guards his privacy. Nevertheless, there is a chapter in Karel Šíp's life that has not been talked about for many years. The story of an illegitimate daughter who left the world too soon is one of the most painful he has ever experienced.

One night that changed everything

It was the beginning of the eighties. Karel Šíp was then in full force, popular, charismatic and surrounded by the admiration of women. During one of the evenings in Zlín, he met a young fan in a dance cafe. The short romance should have remained a forgotten episode, but fate decided otherwise.

Daughter Hana was born in 1982. The presenter did not question paternity, he paid alimony and accepted it as a consequence of his own failure. But he didn't want a closer contact. "I took it as a punishment for the mistake of my youth," indicated Šíp later, who never met his daughter in person.

The girl who wanted to know her father

While the Arrow was silent, Hana grew up knowing who her father was. According to close people, she wanted him all her life. She watched his every show, every interview. However, financial support could not replace the empty place that was missing in her life.

She struggled with psychological problems from a young age, to which drugs were later added. Her life gradually fell apart, and in 2002 a tragedy came that shocked Šíp himself. At the age of twenty, Hana committed suicide by jumping from a height.

New happiness with a younger partner

Although the tragedy marked him, life went on. Singer Marcela Holanová stood by Karel Šíp's side for many years, but later Iva, who was thirty years younger, entered his life. It is with her today that the moderator seems balanced and satisfied.

"When you're comfortable with someone, you don't care about age or surroundings," said Iva in one of the interviews. Together they raise their son Honzík, who is a great source of joy and new energy for Šíp.

He is not going to retire

Even in his eighties, Karel Šíp remains active. His show Všechnopárty has been broadcast since 2005 and still has a strong viewer base. Although there are speculations about fatigue on social networks, the presenter does not plan to leave the scene.
