Who is the wife of cook Honza Punčochára? Veronika stays out of the spotlight

The well-known Czech chef Jan Punchochář, known from television screens, carefully protects his privacy. Although he is a public figure today, he does not talk much about his family. The exception is his wife Veronika, who has shared her life with him for almost thirteen years and stands by his side at every stage of life.

The love they guard

The hosier talks about his wife with great admiration. "My wife is amazing. I admire what she can do," he said in one of the interviews. Until 2021, the public practically had no idea what Veronika looked like, because she avoided social events with her husband.

They raise two children together, Matěj and Rozárka. Jan often talks about his wife as the key person in their family – she takes care of the household, children and general background. "Marriage is great, my wife takes care of everything. She's just a fantastic mom and partner," he says.

Wedding without attention

Their wedding took place without much publicity, and even today there are many unknowns around it. The ceremony was led by the actor Ivan Vodochodský, known among other things from the TV series ZOO. With light humor, the question was also asked during the ceremony whether Veronika would stand for her life by the side of a famous and rich man.

Meeting at a gastronomic event

Veronika herself - then still Šrejer - spoke about the beginnings of their relationship in one of her posts on Instagram. She described that they met during her work for an Austrian company that was opening a branch in the Czech Republic. They met at a gastronomic fair, where Jan approached her. "He invited me to dinner, I refused for a long time, but in the end I went. He was kind and attentive, and we have been together ever since," she recalled.

When asked what Honza cooked for her first, she no longer remembers exactly. But he remembers, for example, tenderloin and salad with roasted tomatoes.

They make a strong team today

Today Veronika actively helps in the family business. Jan Punčochář has behind him successful TV shows such as MasterChef, Souboj na táliři or Ledničko, vyprávej! and runs an award-winning restaurant in Prague 6, named after their son.
