Karel Gott once wanted to give up the demanding treatment that cancer was draining him from. Eventually, however, his daughter Charlotte Ella intervened. It was she who was able to convince him to keep fighting - and thus prolong his life by several months to years.
It has been six years since the nation lost the legendary singer Karel Gott forever. His battle with a serious illness was long and painful. At one point, it seemed that the singer no longer had the strength to continue. The treatment was extremely demanding and he himself felt that the time had come to accept his fate. But at that time, his beloved daughter Charlotte Ella Gottová, who had a huge influence on dad, played a key role.
"Dad, we will sing together, but you have to try again"
According to people close to Gott, the Master had a big dream - to sing a joint song with his daughter.
When Richard Krajčo offered him the emotional composition Srdce they don't go out, Gott didn't get too involved in the project at first. He felt exhausted and had had a difficult few months. That's when Charlotte intervened.
"Charlotte didn't want to sing the duet originally," revealed Krajčo. "In the end, she agreed to it on the condition that her daddy would try the treatment one more time - that he would do it for her."
This childish "deal" really worked. Karel Gott decided to continue the therapies, he also tried alternative methods, and thanks to this he stayed here with his loved ones much longer than the doctors originally expected.
The song that became a symbol
The song Srdce nešannou was created under time pressure - Krajčo knew that he had to act quickly so that both of them could record it.
"I suspected that Karel no longer had much strength, so I wanted, so that the song has a deep meaning," admitted the group's frontman Kryštof. "It was supposed to be about love, faith and the fact that even when a person leaves, something that goes beyond him remains."
The result touched the whole of the Czech Republic. The video clip went viral within a few hours, and the song turned into a kind of musical testament of the singer, which is known today even by people who are not rock fans of Karel Gott.
Charlotte lives out of the spotlight these days
Since then, Charlotte Ella Gottová has withdrawn from public life. Although she undoubtedly has tremendous singing talent from her father, she decided to follow a different path. He devotes himself to his studies and tries to live in seclusion as much as possible. She only rarely appears on social networks and refuses public appearances.
Her life is thus significantly different from the time when she performed at concerts alongside her father and faced huge media attention. However, the singer's greatest treasure - precisely the duet with her father - will forever remain proof of their strong bond.
A love that endures
Thanks to her daughter, Karel Gott decided to fight a little longer than he originally planned.
"It was Charlotte who gave him the most strength in recent months. He wanted her to be proud of her father," revealed one of his loved ones.
Although the legendary Master is no longer with us, their song and story show that true love between father and daughter can be stronger than illness and time.
