The business attempt of the actress Andrlová and the wife of Michal David: The slimming studio had a promising start, but soon ended

After the Velvet Revolution, many in the art industry found themselves at a crossroads. Among them was the well-known actress Ivana Andrlová, who together with Marcela Davidová, the wife of singer Michal David, decided to go into business. Their joint project became a studio focused on character formation.

In a period when culture was going through a fundamental change and theaters and cinemas were losing attendance, Andrlová thought about a different life path. "The future in acting was uncertain, people were moving to video stores," she later recalled.

Together with Davidová, they used contacts in the family, thanks to which they obtained funds to get started. They invested in high-end equipment, trained in Switzerland and established a studio that quickly gained popularity. Thanks to well-known names and media coverage, the business soon gained a clientele without the need for traditional advertising. "All it took was one interview in a magazine and the phone kept ringing," Andrlová described the successful launch.

During two years of operation, they were able to cover all costs and pay back the investments. However, they later closed the studio - not because of bankruptcy, but because of changes in the market and tightening of conditions in the field of similar services.

While the business project ended, both women gradually returned to their original professions. It was a smooth transition for Andrlova, although she admitted that upon her return she felt a gap between the "old guard" and the new generation in the industry. She rejected some offers and felt that some avenues remained closed to her.

He looks back on this episode today. "It was like a trip to the moon. Intense, educational, albeit with long-term consequences. But the experience was valuable," the actress said in a later interview.
